Fukushima Noa (福島ノア?) is a character in the D4DJ franchise, and is a member of the group Photon Maiden.
Profile[]
Noa became interested in theater plays through her love of literature, and decided to become a performer when she was praised at a theater workshop. Very curious and full of knowledge, she becomes talkative when it comes to things she's interested in. She loves cute things[3] and is strongly obsessed with cats.
Appearance[]
Noa has pale blonde hair with some tied into a braided bun. She has full bangs and waist-length forelocks. She has grayish green eyes.
Background[]
Noa's family owns a Japanese sweets store.
Ever since she was young, Noa has been a honor student who excels in sports and academics, and she even managed to win a national essay writing contest when she was in elementary school. Because of her intellect and talent, her classmates and teachers assumed she could do everything on her own and wouldn't approach her, leading to Noa being lonely and seeing herself as a scary person. However one day, when she met Kurumi for the first time, she ended up developing her love for cute things as she realized that while she might never become cute herself, she can always appreciate cute things.[4]
Personality[]
Noa often acts as the "emotional" side of Photon Maiden, easily making friends with other units' members before Ibuki or Saki do as unit leaders. For example, she quickly got to know Muni and Shinobu because of her admiration for their cuteness. As well, she is the one who reacts the most heavily to Shano's return to the industry - to the point she voices her frustrations without thinking. She is also shown crying in one of the anime's scenes when the label staff criticizes her idea for a new song.
Due to her love for cute things, she is especially obsessed with cute girls and cherishes any time spent with them. For example, she has used various tricks to bring all of Lyrical Lily to her home for a tea party[5] and has gone on a date to the arcade with Shinobu.[6] In particular, this side of her personality is easily parodied in the Noa-dedicated song Your Love ♡, where her obsession with cute girls is compared to a impermanent womanizer. Whether her actual intentions are platonic or romantic are left ambiguous, allowing the audience to draw their own conclusions.
At the same time, Noa also has a more mature and serious side, which can be seen in the 7th episode of All Mix where Noa and her groupmates are working on a song that should "show their true side". Although she eventually returns to her usual eccentricity and passionate love for cuteness, Noa's responsible and careful work on the concept for their new song ends up making all four happy and helps Photon Maiden find a new color.
Etymology[]
Fukushima (福島) can be split into two parts. Fuku (福), meaning blessing or fortune, and Shima (島) meaning island.
Noa (ノア) has no meaning on its own. However, since it's in katakana, it could be the Japanese equivalent of Noah.

- Noa has an extensive collection of books in her home and will read anything, regardless of genre.[7]
- In Adventure Awaits Us (Part 1), her armor was based on the Paolumu and her weapon type was the Sword & Shield.
- Noa's favorite animal seems to be cats, as she is shown to be ecstatic over them and considers them as gods. She also finds hippos cute.[8]
- Her obsession with cats is excessive to the point that Saki does not allow Noa to see her pet cat.[9]
- In one of her menu dialogues, she says that she would love to keep a cute pet, but also mentions that everyone else told her not to because "she would try to keep it around forever."
- She is able to discern a girl's body measurements just by looking at them.[10]
- According to Noa's D4Fes. card story, she is skilled at ventriloquism.
- She can write a script for a short play in one evening if has the motivation to do it.[11]
