A first magnitude star shining in the galaxy, Lumina Ichihoshi!

Ichihoshi Lumina (一星 ルミナ?), also known as her code name, LUMINA,[1][2] is a character released on the 2nd Anniversary of the Groovy Mix mobile game. She is a member of UniChØrd.

Profile[]

A virtual singer who suddenly emerged on the Internet and quickly amassed a large following. Calling herself as a "space idol", she does a variety of activities online, ranging from streaming video games to posting her own songs. To achieve her goal of becoming the number one diva in the galaxy, she requests to form a unit with Michiru, Kokoa and Hayate.

In side:nova Season 7 -ENCØRE!!!!!!!-, it is revealed that Lumina is composed with all the data of Aria, the legendary diva in the United States and Neo's mother. In Side:nova Season 9 -SUPERNOVA-, it is confirmed that Lumina's base code is written by Neo's father, Doctor Nova, who wants to revive Aria as an AI. According to Lumina herself, her first command received is "to aim for, and to become Aria." However, due to herself losing the memory about that command, this goal twisted into "becoming the No. 1 diva in the universe." In XROSS∞BEAT EPISODE7, Lumina remembered that, her current "soul" is composed as the combination of Aria and her initial self.

After the events in XROSS∞BEAT EPISODE7, Lumina's soul is installed into a new robotic body invented by the Takeshita, Sakurada, and Shimizu Groups. She is currently sharing the body with the reborn Proto Lumina, her prototype, with Lumina herself in control of the body.

Appearance[]

Lumina has long pale pink hair with a gradient that gets darker at the ends. Her eyes are heterochromatic, being yellow on her left and grey on her right. She has a very short stature compared to the other characters.

Personality[]

Lumina is shown to be quite energetic, intelligent, charming and even a bit cocky at times. Prior to the reveal of her true identity, she was quite secretive and refused to leave her studio, saying it's still not the right time to show herself in-person. In the last episode of side:nova Season 4 -Finding Neo-, it is revealed by Lumina herself, to the other UniChØrd members, that she is in fact an artificial intelligence.[3] Due to her status as an AI, she doesn't understand many things that humans do, and even goes as far as suggesting the others to stop attending school because they're just wasting their time there instead of practicing.[4] To the AI activated for merely four years, information is everything, and thus she is extremely sensitive to those she does not know anything about.[5]

Abilities[]

In side:nova Season 2 -Opening Act-, it is shown that Lumina is skilled at digging up old information, as shown when she had found out all about Kokoa's old and deleted account. This ability is later revealed to be hacking, as seen in side:nova Season 7 -ENCØRE!!!!!!!-, where she hijacked all the electronical devices that was just shut down by the staff in D4FES. in U.S.A. and turned them back on.

With this ability, it seems that she can take over others' social media account temporarily while they were busy. Check this page for examples.

She also serves as a sort of antivirus program in Michiru's smartphone, as seen in XROSS∞BEAT EPISODE1 where she protected Michiru's smartphone from the cyber attack by Proto Lumina.

Even after Lumina receives her new body in XROSS∞BEAT EPISODE7, she is still able to travel freely in Cyber Space by uploading her mind into it. As Lumina is the one in control, it seems like she can also upload Proto Lumina into Cyber Space as well, as seen in Arisugawa Student Council Report Season 1 where Proto Lumina greets Nakamori Hitomi and Haraguchi Riaru via a tablet while Lumina is not around.[6]

Etymology[]

Ichihoshi (一星) can be split into two parts. Ichi (一) means "one, single", and Hoshi (星) means "star". The name directly translates to "one star". As Lumina's 'original' name was just her first name in all caps, it is possible that her surname is something Lumina herself came up with before the main story of the game.

Lumina (ルミナ) has no meaning to its own but is likely an abbreviation of Latin root "lumi", which means "to shine". The name may also derive from the word "luminous" (ルミナス).

Trivia[]
