Proto Lumina

Proto Lumina (プロトルミナ^?), commonly referred to as the Prototype and later nicknamed Pumina (プミナ^?), is an AI and the main antagonist of the XROSS∞BEAT event series in D4DJ Groovy Mix. As her name suggests, she is the prototype of Ichihoshi Lumina.

Appearance[]

Proto Lumina's appearance is nearly identical to Lumina's. The difference between their appearances is that Proto Lumina's hair's gradient becomes light blue at the ends, and her both eyes are yellow and do not have highlights. She is almost always wearing a black body suit.

Abilities[]

In the event series, she only appears whenever there is performance (onstage or not) featuring people from two different groups (e.g. Yamate Kyoko and Neo in EPISODE 1 and EPISODE 3, Merm4id and RONDO in EPISODE 1). Whenever she appears, she can hijack the internet around the performance area, efficiently isolating the performers and those people within the area. She is also able to read the memories of others, as seen in EPISODE 3 where she recreates Lumina's room in virtual space, although with negative effect on color. Aside from these, she can also cast hypnosis to those who produces XROSS∞BEATs, render them unconscious, collect their data and capture their "soul". It is possible that those who listen to those music produced by DJs, like the audiences in D4 FES., will fall to her hypnosis as well.

She is also able to self-create multiple copies of herself in order to carry on her mission. These clones also have self consciousness, and thus the antivirus program does NOT work against them.

According to Lumina, she is sentient in a certain degree, and she has the same as, if not, higher calculating capabilities than those Lumina has. Lumina is capable of stopping her, as shown when Lumina blocked her attempt at causing a cyber attack on Michiru's phone, however this also works in the opposite way, as seen in EPISODE 4 where Proto Lumina takes over the network in Lumina's studio by successfully bypassing the security system due to being Lumina's prototype.

As a fail-safe in order to protect the secret of D4 Plan, a self-destruct program is installed into Proto Lumina, which will trigger if Proto Lumina can no longer continue the mission. It is shown in EPISODE 7 that this program is able to destroy a single dimension of Cyber Space.

Proto Lumina likely lost all of these abilities after being "saved" by Lumina in EPISODE 7.

Past[]

20 years ago before the XROSS∞BEAT event series, Doctor Nova, Lumina's creator and Neo's father, had successfully created an artificial intelligence, which is Proto Lumina. In the opening cutscene of EPISODE 1, she is seen emerging from the core and hijacking the internet in a research facility.

In EPISODE 5, it is confirmed that Proto Lumina was created by Dr. Nova, as the main part of D4 Plan, to capture the data of those people who produce XROSS∞BEATs, and then cast hypnosis to them, capturing their soul with her program. However, with the prototype gone berserk in the incident 20 years ago, D4 Plan is forced to shut down and the prototype is disposed.

...or so they thought. In fact, Proto Lumina took 20 years to complete self-repairing and continued her mission. All cyber attacks listed below are the mission designed by the program.

Main Story[]

After self-repairing, Proto Lumina is seen occuring cyber attacks by hacking into places such as ALTER-EGO or device such as Nyochio-Robo.

In EPISODE 3, just when the performance of Kyoko and Neo reached climax, Proto Lumina appears. She is seen in Neo's smartphone, and caused Neo to fall asleep (or more accurately, captured her soul) with her abilities. After Lumina rushes into scene, the two AI meets each other for the first time. The ego of the prototype is, at this moment, not yet developed, and thus she keeps laughing spookily without properly answering Lumina's question. However, by reading Lumina's data, the ego of the prototype grows, and Proto Lumina recreates Lumina's room in virtual space (albeit with negative effect), before disappearing.

In EPISODE 4, after bypassing the security system, Proto Lumina takes over the network in Lumina's studio. Possibly due to Lumina understanding the emotion of the humans, Lumina got her calculating capabilities weakened by the prototype. Just when Lumina herself is about to get taken over, Nyochio-Robo came to the rescue and Lumina is able to escape from the scene. Now with the studio fallen, UniChØrd is forced to retreat to the basement in Arisugawa Academy with stronger network devices.

Now with the data collected, Proto Lumina decided to go all out, creating multiple clones of herself and occuring cyber attack everywhere. The victim of the hypnosis drastically increased in EPISODE 6.

At this moment, Fukushima Noa noticed a possible "glitch" against Proto Lumina. Although being an AI designed to capture data of those people who produces XROSS∞BEATs, if a song itself is well-produced it may temporarily halt the program of the AI, making the AI enjoy the music before resuming the mission. In order to free Neo, the AI has to be completely shut down, and to do so, Seto Rika came up with a plan to perform in virtual reality altogether. The si de:ori gin uni ts keep the clones busy while the side:nova units face against the real prototype.

It is revealed in EPISODE 6 that, after collecting data from Lumina in EPISODE 4, Proto Lumina knows the existence of the AI with different mind, making her realizing the thing she lacks: the "soul". She wants Lumina's soul, to the extent of willing to kill her and take her place. Inside the virtual reality, Lumina is knocked unconscious and almost got killed by the prototype, before L.M.O saving her. L.M.O's song is able to make Proto Lumina rustling, and with the help from Call of Artemis, the two legendary units performed WOW WAR TONIGHT ~Toki ni wa Okose yo Movement~, causing the prototype to be in pain.

Noa was right about the weakness. Lumina's data caused multiple clones of emotions born inside Proto Lumina, and with the performance of the two legendary unit, the emotion clones activate together, causing enough conflict between Proto Lumina's emotion and instinct, making the program malfunction, finally unleashing the soul (including Neo's) she has captured for so long.

Final Showdown[]

After the malfunction, Proto Lumina flees into Cyber Space, with D4DJ ALL STARS following. Having learned the emotion via Lumina's soul, Proto Lumina decided to carry out the mission by force, starting by causing the mental breakdown on all humans in Cyber Space by boosting their negative emotion. This has caused the humans huge pain, except Aimoto Rinku, who was somehow immune to the attack, making the prototype mistaking Rinku as the "evolved human". Thanks to Rinku's words, all the other humans came back to their senses.

Determined to prove Proto Lumina, or more accurately, the scientists behind the project, wrong about the evolution, the D4DJ ALL STARS performed LOVE!HUG!GROOVY!! together, which created more emotion clones inside her. This caused even more conflict than before, which overloaded and caused the fatal error on the program, finally destroying the D4 Plan for good.

With the project completely terminated, the self-destruct program installed in the prototype activated. Afraid of being destroyed, Proto Lumina called Lumina for help. In fact, the main program installed into the prototype are nothing more than the ego of the scientists. However, by contact with Lumina's soul and the music of the DJs, Proto Lumina has come to understand the "emotion" of the humans, and decided to live as she desires rather than following the "order."

Lumina accepted the prototype's call for help, after Lumina brutally teleported everyone out from the collapsing Cyber Space. Unable to shut down the program, however, Lumina decided to absorb only Proto Lumina's soul in order to save her. The two AIs are later able to escape with the help of the Nyochio-Robo.

Aftermath[]

Proto Lumina now lives inside the robotic body designed for Lumina, sharing the same body with her. She is seen cheering for Lumina when UniChØrd is about to perform on stage in the last scene of the event series.
