Sasago Jennifer Yuka (笹子・ジェニファー・由香?) is a character in the D4DJ franchise, and is the VJ for the group Peaky P-key.

Profile[]

Yuka is the life and soul of Peaky P-key. She met Kyoko as she was searching for the "greatest moment" to capture with her camera and decided to join her unit as a VJ. Raised by parents who work as gym instructors, she is very cheerful and kind to everyone, and loves cheering up her fellow group members, whom she regards as her best friends.[1]

Appearance[]

Yuka is tall girl with light tanned skin, straight blonde hair pulled into a tight high ponytail, and grayish blue eyes. She has a slim figure with muscular tones. She originally exposed her forehead in promotional material, but after the 3.0.0 update in Groovy Mix, she now opts for side-swept bangs.

Personality[]

Yuka is outgoing, fun-loving and a friendly charismatic girl who mingles well with anyone. Though she has a mellow air to her, she is a well-known fitness enthusiast who becomes noticeably passionate and energetic while working out, having an obsession with light bodybuilding. She can also be quite chirpy, adding random English words to her sentences for flair.

She has a caring and nurturing side, especially when it comes to looking after her groupmates, and often helps the other characters with fitness activities. This is exemplified as she regularly trains the other Peaky P-key girls at her family's gym and even helped Rinku train for their New Year's concert's complex choreography as well as Weronika.

Yuka may seem happy-go-lucky all the time, but she also has her own honest and clumsy moments too, making her an endearing character.

Etymology[]

Sasago (笹子) can be split into two parts. Sasa (笹), meaning bamboo grass, and Go (子), which translates to child.

Jennifer (ジェニファー) is a name of Welsh origins and means "fair lady".

Yuka (由香) can be split into two parts. Yu (由) means reason, and Ka (香) means fragrance.

Trivia[]

  • Despite having an English middle name, Yuka's English skills are quite poor, and the main language her family speaks at home is Japanese.[2] Adding to this, she tends to mispronounce most English words she says.
    • In a map conversation, she is surprised about the fact how she, despite her aforementioned English skills, can get through most conversations with her father's friends (who only speak English) just by answering "yes", "no" and "thanks".
    • This fact is also shown in her special clip[3] from the English version of Groovy Mix. Some of her English dialogue in the clip is misspelled. This is also due to the fact that most of the time Yuka's English words are written in katakana.
  • She plans training menus for herself and does workouts everyday in order to build the ideal figure.
  • Yuka has a habit of taking pictures of her abs and posting them online.
  • Yuka works part-time as a photographic assistant.
  • Despite her dislike of American food, Yuka likes the food from the burger joints Kyoko takes her and the rest of the Peaky P-key members to.
